1/365 days of gratitude

One of the promises I made to myself for 2015 is to be grateful for even the smallest things in my life. Which is why I've decided to join in on the 365 days of gratitude band wagon. 

Today, I'm grateful for being able to capture this fuzzy photo of lights. 

It may just be some dangling Christmas lights, but for me, it is much more symbolic as this was the photo I took right before Nathan proposed. How appropriate that this would be my day 1 of many days of gratitude to come. Can't wait to see what 2015 has in store!

backtracking: may 5th

Butterflies in tummy, Nathan and I set off downtown for my dreaded National Knowledge Exam. Other than my parents, I think he's the only other person in the world who would voluntarily wake up at 6am on a Saturday to make sure I have a good breakfast and that I wouldn't be alone while panicking for the exam (I didn't do much studying...). He brought me to Eggspecations and because I was torn between two items on the menu, he let me pick both our breakfasts so that I could have both!

While I wrote my exam, he waited around so that he could drive me home. Luckily, it only took me 1.5 hours to write the exam and not the full three hours, but the fact that he was willing to wait and didn't complain at all about it makes me melt like the butter on my french toast. Did I mention he also fed me some yummy ramen at yokozuno post exam?

Now to wait five more weeks before I get the results for the exam!

watermelon revisited

Back in June, I posted about my very first gardening adventure and the doubt that surrounded the growth of my watermelon plant. I am happy to announce that I, as a matter of fact, was able to grow three watermelons this summer (this is if we count the one that my dad crushed with a lawn mower and the other one that fell off its vine). Even though it was only the size of a large plum, I still ate it! Now, I may be biased, but I thought it was the sweetest and juiciest watermelon I had all summer. This just comes to show that a little determination goes a long way!

For those who are currently struggling with what seems to be a near impossible task:

keep on trucking! Your watermelon will eventually grow :)

a week that felt like months

I haven't had a break since my last exam on August 19th, so you can imagine how happy I was  today to be able to just sit at a Starbucks with a venti green tea lemonade reading one of my guilty pleasure novels (Mini Shopaholic). Why has life been so busy? It was mostly due to bridal shower planning for a friend of mine who's getting married this October. The biggest challenge was making the scones for the high tea event. The first batch we made tasted good but were as dry my skin during the winter months. The second batch were the perfect texture, but tasted like cardboard. Luckily, our final batch (that we made the night before the shower), were the perfect blend of the first 2 trials. The shower was a hit! I was afraid that people will be reluctant to play some of the games that we had planned, but everyone seemed to have enjoyed them! I didn't get a chance to take too many photos for the shower, because I was helping the bride take pictures with her camera. I did, however, sneak a few photos with my point & shoot when I had the chance.
