I finally had the chance to visit Snakes & Lattes a couple of weeks ago and it was everything I had hoped it would be! It had an expansive collection of games, extremely friendly service and a pretty good menu for small sips and nibbles. There is a $5 charge for just sitting down, but it is well worth the money because you can sit for as long as you want without being hassled. Plus, you get to revisit some childhood board games and hang out with nostalgia for the evening.

Just make sure to bring some hand sanitizer as some of the games are well used.

I would like to think that I'm a good carrom player, but to be honest, I have absolutely no aim. I've played only one other time in my life and although I won both times, it was always by default. All those years spent learning geometry and physics and science-y things was for moot. If only my teachers stressed the importance of angles and forces in high school. If only they warned me about how useful and relevant these things would turn out to be in my life. I would be living a glamourous life as a professional carrom player right now. But instead, I have to find happiness in a simple life where playing a board game is exciting enough to warrant a blog post...

 Maybe it was a good thing I was never very studious in high school.

 the gems you find when cleaning

My excuses for cleaning up the house have finally run out, so for the past two weeks I, along with  my parents, have been cleaning up bit by bit while our bathrooms are getting a makeover. In the midst of cleaning out boxes and digging into dusty closets, my parents found a Nintendo Entertainment System box circa the 80s. Originally, I had thought that it was empty since our old Nintendo system with the missing converter was currently downstairs in the basement collecting dust. However, it turns out my dad had actually purchased two Nintendos when they first came out. My mom concluded that my dad is crazy and I finally found out from whom I inherited my shopping habits.

Needless to say, I've been spending way too much time playing my childhood games this week.
